BLUE BUCKET READERS
Last fall, St. Mark's developed a new program called Blue Bucket Books to encourage early learners to love books. The program puts teams of adults reading age-appropriate books to children in daycare for 30 minutes, one day a week for 12 weeks. The books are generously provided by Tennessee's Imagination Library/Books from Birth.
The Chancel Choir leads us in worship each week as we celebrate God's loving presence in our lives. Rehearsals are held each Sunday after worship. Ours is an all-volunteer choir, and no auditions are required to be join. We only ask that you like to sing and are willing to commit to Sunday morning worship and rehearsal. We not only practice the music we sing, but we also learn how to sing better, and we learn some of the basic rudiments of music. We also have fun!
The Choir brings a variety of music to the morning worship services. Our anthems range from Beethoven and other classical artists to standard sacred choral arrangements, hymns, spirituals, and southern gospel. We also present special music on various holidays and days of observance and cantatas at Christmas and Easter.
The United Methodist Men at St. Mark's are proud sponsors of Boy Scout Troop 57 and Cub Scout Pack 157. The Scouts meet on Mondays at 6 pm, and the Cubs meet on Tuesdays at 7:15 pm. In addition to camping and life skills training, the Scouts enjoy many fun activities, including a trip last year to our nation's capital. We are very proud of the fact that many of our young men become Eagle Scouts and leaders in the community.
